PROJECT LINUS ORGANIZATION
We are also involved with the "Project Linus Organization".
Blankets are collected locally and distributed to children in hospitals, shelters, social service agencies, or anywhere that
a child might be in need of a big hug.
Project
Linus is a non-profit organization with a two-fold mission. First, it is our mission to provide
love, a sense of security, warmth and comfort to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need through
the gifts of new, handmade blankets and afghans, lovingly created by volunteer “blanketeers.” Second,
it is our mission to provide a rewarding and fun service opportunity for interested individuals and groups in local communities,
for the benefit of children.
I have made a few blankets in the past months and have given them to this
organization. The feeling you get when you receive a letter from a hospital, shelter or a child saying "Thank
You" for making them their blanket - there are no words that can describe it!

RELAY FOR LIFE OF CHARLES COUNTY
We had a Great time at the Relay for Life that was held at the Regency
Furniture Stadium in Waldorf. It was a 2 day event - starting on June 12th and ending on June 13th around 8am.
It was an experience that you will not forget once you have participate in it. There were over 1300 participants
there, 133 teams, 151 survivors and with all the volunteers help - we all raised $269,313.00 for the American Cancer
Society. The Relay also included the "Luminaria Ceremony of Hope" - which took place at dusk. This was
a chance for those to remember their love ones/friends that have lost their battle to cancer and it was also a chance to honor
those who have won their battle to cancer.
My Dad passed away on Sept. 14, 2007 from Cancer and I've been Cancer
Free for 10 years now. This event was a very "Special" one for us. This disease has hit us personally
and many others as well.
We will be participating in the Relay for Life 2010 - hope to see you there!
